Comfortable rooms, excellent staff, beautiful location by the river, good facilities, and delicious breakfast.

Fine setting and building, attentive and friendly staff, huge bed with high-quality linen, clean and peaceful spa area, amazing breakfast buffet with fresh local products, excellent menu choices for dinner.

Rooms are spacious, clean, and modern. Staff is helpful and efficient. Location is outside the city center but accessible by taxi. Facilities include a gym, sauna, and indoor and outdoor pools. Breakfast and dinner are enjoyable. Beautiful views of the river and palace.

The location of the hotel right on the banks of the Douro river provided stunning views from our room. We enjoyed a lovely dinner in the restaurant on the day we arrived. The staff were helpful and prepared to take taxis for us whenever we needed.

Some of the staff seemed disinterested and unresponsive to our needs.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The views along the river were fine. The spacious rooms were fantastic, providing plenty of space for three people. The swimming facilities were excellent, with both indoor and outdoor options. The staff were attentive and professional, making us feel welcome throughout our stay. The breakfast buffet was nice, offering a good variety of options. The location was perfect, not too far from the city center and easily accessible by transportation.

Almost perfect. The presence of a large grain silo behind the hotel was a slight spoiling factor.

We loved the friendly and attentive staff, the beautiful old palace with its charming character, the comfortable and spacious rooms in the modernized building, and the tranquil atmosphere that ensured a peaceful night's sleep. The indoor pool, sauna, and Turkish bath were a great addition to our stay.

The staff at Pestana were friendly and accommodating, especially Rui. We were impressed by the beautiful castle and mirror room in the main building. The check-in process was smooth and we were offered a refreshing glass of white port. The bedroom in the hotel was well-appointed with plenty of space and amenities. The service in the bar was excellent, and the food was delicious. The location of the hotel on the banks of the Douro river was lovely.

The gym was small and poorly equipped.

We were amazed by the fine interiors of the hotel, especially the original frescos in the dining room. The attention to detail on the ceilings and walls is amazing. The fact that part of the hotel is a National Monument only adds to its charm. Despite staying in a converted mill, the room was spacious and comfortable, providing a quiet and peaceful atmosphere. The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of delicious food, and we were kinda surprised when the hotel delivered sparkling wine and chocolate to our room for my birthday celebration. The indoor pool and surroundings were great, perfect for relaxation. Despite being a bit outside the city, the walk to Porto was pleasant and we also found Uber to be a convenient option for getting back in the evenings.

A luxurious and exclusive stay awaits at this venue. Rooms are spacious, quiet and comfortable. the breakfast buffet provides a high-quality and varied range of food that will set you up for the day. the indoor pool and surrounding area amongst the best experienced. the restaurant's food quality, presentation and flavours are excellent. Fine dining at its best, desserts to die for.

One minor issue is the need for some exterior maintenance, but this doesn't detract from the luxury experience.
